The best sources for current information about classes and activities are the monthly calendar and bi-monthly newsletter. Below is a sample of some of our typical monthly offerings.
Please note that some of our activities are held outside of the Senior Center, so be sure to note the location when reviewing the Calendar. Also, on the Calendar some activities require that you make a reservation or appointment - this is signified by a phone icon next to the entry. Tai Chi
Tai Chi for Energy, Tuesdays at 9:00 a.m.. at The Senior Center Taught by Lois Bascom. This promotes the opportunity to relax, refresh, and revitalize. It will help you acquire better health, internal energy, and the ability to manage stress. Great for beginners as well as those who have been practicing for a while. Wear comfortable clothing, shoes, and bring your water bottle. Lois charges $20/month. If interested in joining or for more information, call The Senior Center.
Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention. Thursdays at 9:00.a.m. at The Senior Center. Taught by Lois Bascom The gentle, slow movements in this class help build back muscles, increase balance, strengthen the immune system, and more. Can be done seated or standing. Healthy Bones and Balance Class
Wednesdays, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at the Center; Thursdays,10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at St. John’s Corner, 469 Main Street, Ashfield
RSVP, the volunteer connector for people 55 and over in the Pioneer Valley, sponsors a self-paced, low impact, one-hour exercise class to promote healthy bones and balance. It is an ongoing program, led by instructors trained by RSVP. Exercises can be done sitting or standing and the classes are free thanks to our volunteers. Donations from non-members are welcome.
Yoga
Class led by Louise Legouis, Wednesdays, 8:30 A.M.. Bring your own exercise mat. $20/month for everyone.
Bingo
Thursdays 12:30 p.m..
Knitting Group
Thursdays 10:00 - Whatver your project, come join the group if you enjoy knitting (or other handwork) and great conversation.
Men’s Night Programs
The Men’s Group meets on the second Wednesday of each month, from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM for food and trips. Past trips have included visits to Branson Glassblowing Studio, Foxbard Farms, Floodwater Brewery, just to name a few. Call 625-2502 if you are interested in attending.
