Each month Director Juli Moreno presents a report to the Board of Directors highlighting the Senior Center’s activities.

June 8, 2023

Administration: Juli Moreno

Site:

  • Looking to start overhaul of computer room / lounge
  • Open now for food, coffee, just visiting

Network:

  • Talking with SCD’s in area, especially South County regarding FRTA and multi-town issues
  • Attended Rural Conference in Devens April 26th
  • Partnering with Shelburne Historical Society and others for future events and specialized programming
  • Digital Equity Grant was submitted, is under review
  • Open Air committee, Rec Committee, and some local businesses now in network, sharing items for newsletters and postings
  • Library Grant received targeting service for seniors. Community Forum at Center in July

Staffing:

  • Agenda-driven weekly staff meetings occurring, meeting notes available
  • Teddy is done with SHINE training, test then graduates!

Programming:

  • Adventurer’s Club starting, activity monthly
  • Summer programming will alter, less of some groups, more of others!
  • Social History project showcase in late June at Historical Society, will do Ashfield and Buckland in coming months

Marketing:

  • Posts and information sharing on social media
  • Purchased 100 T-Shirts with lettering, for volunteers and Board, etc.
  • Revision of newsletter format and style, color, completed
  • Sharing of events with various vendor newsletters

Budget:

  • Utilizing surplus funding for computers and phone systems. MySeniorCenter additional monitor for back room also purchased.
  • Completed two bill runs, coding and budgeting
  • Completed three Turnover of cash and donations to Town Hall
  • Completed FRTA, RSVP, Caregiver Grant monthly reports

SHINE training at LifePath April to June, takes half days away from usual schedule

Risk / Counseling:

LifePath grant status:

  • coordinated home repair or technology support for 10
  • co-facilitated monthly Caregiver Support Group with 10 attending
  • co-facilitated monthly Memory Cafe with 12 attending

Applications:

  • CISA and Farm Share- 20
  • helped 1 with RMV issues
  • referred 1 for Home Modification Program
  • assisted 4 with housing applications and/or provided necessary information about housing

SHINE:

  • SHINE appointments or resolution of insurance issues for 5 (with Leanne once monthly)

Programming Status:

Bi-Weekly Meals to Go:

  • Lifepath meal inside every Thurs - average 9 per meal
  • May 9 -lemon ricotta pasta, It. Salad, roll, dessert-54
  • May 23 – turkey rice soup, gr. cheese sand, chips, dessert - 40

Health and Clinics:

Fitness:

  • Yoga with instructor 8
  • Chair Dance exercise – 8 per session
  • Hip Hop Chair dance – 5/24 – 8
  • Healthy Bones & Balance exercise program in person, Weds at 10 in Senior Center - 10 people, 2 instructors , Thurs at 10 in Ashfield – 13 people, 2 instructors
  • Tai Chi for Energy- every Tuesday - 10
  • Tai Chi for Arthritis every Thursday – 10

Social:

  • BINGO every Thursday – 10-12 people each time
  • Movie – 3/21-“Where the Crawdads Sing” - 11
  • Knitting group – every Thursday 10-15 people
  • Ashfield COA lunch – 5/4 - 9
  • Men's Night – 5/10 – Tim Coleman Farm – 12
